Competitive Events

Dual Meets

A Dual Meet is a competitive event where a host team meets an away team. They are typically held at participating YMCA's on Saturdays during the winter season. There are no additional fees required. The parents of the home team run a dual meet. See Parent Responsibilities. Each swimmer may swim up to three events including relays. Coaches determine each swimmer's events and try to schedule each swimmer in at least two events. Events are organized according to age group and stroke. Swimmers swim as a team and scoring is done on a team basis.

Scoring for Individual and Relay Events:

Scoring established by home team and meet format

Points are tallied by age group. The age group with the greatest number of points wins. The overall winning team is the club that won the most age groups.

Coaches may enter a swimmer as exhibition. Exhibition swims are not scored, but the time is recorded and official. A swimmer may be put in exhibition to establish a time or to give a swimmer more experience.
